What is Bible Journaling and Why You Should Start

Hello, everyone!

If you're here, you either want to learn about bible journaling, or you're from my Pinterest and you'll notice I've been talking about it a lot lately. In doing so, I noticed only a few people knew exactly what it was or how to start. So, in this blog post, I'm going to share what bible journaling is and why you should start today. <3

1. What is Bible Journaling?

Bible journaling is, well, journaling in your bible! Bible journaling is a creative way to study scripture while having fun. It can include painting on the pages, drawing pictures, or simply highlighting key verses and writing notes in the margins.

If you don't want to write on the pages, keeping a separate journal works too. If you love to be creative or enjoy art, bible journaling may be something you'll want to consider. Down below, I am going to give you three reasons why you should start bible journaling and how it will benefit you! :)

2. Why you should start
1. TO GROW YOUR FAITH

For reference, this is the main reason why I started. You simply want to draw closer to God and grow your faith. Reading the Bible can be difficult, but this is one way for God to speak to us, and we can access it daily.

Before I discovered bible journaling, it was hard for me just to crack open my bible and read it. For one, I didn't understand it. I thought it was boring, and I wasn't consistent in my studies. Once I discovered bible journaling on Pinterest, I knew I should try this if I wanted to be more in tune with God through His Word. Bible journaling can encourage you or help you remember to read the Bible daily and grow your faith.

2. TO MEDIATATE ON THE WORD

Another point of bible journaling is to slow down and focus on a specific book, chapter, or verse within the Bible. Journaling or documenting what you learn helps you meditate on what God is saying to you within scripture. It can also help you apply what you read to your daily life, making you more prone to remember what you read.

Instead of just speeding through the Bible and not understanding what's going on, by journaling, you'll want to slow down, look up things you may not understand, summarize, or draw certain things that stick out to you while you read to remember them more easily :)

3. HAVE SOME FUN

The Bible is a fantastic book, but it can be intimidating and hard to read. Bible journaling helps ease that tension you may have and help you have more fun engaging in God's Word. Personalizing your bible, adding notes, tape-ins, and color-coding makes it so exciting to read God's Word and look forward to what He will reveal to you.

Although bible journaling can be fun, you don't have to be perfect. Don't use a bible journal to get Instagram-worthy pictures or make the prettiest pages to show off on TikTok. It's about connecting with God by slowing down with studying His Word while also being creative.

Hopefully, I gave you some insight into bible journaling, and you’ll consider starting today.

But be aware! Once you start, you’ll want to do it all the time! (Which is totally ok! :)

With love,

Kyndra Nicholle
